| | Now that you have a beautiful heat transfer printed using your
SoffTee
or Hottee transfer
paper or release paper and a blank garment (probably t-shirt),
you need to know how to apply the transfer to that garment in a manner that looks
good. Here are a few tips on placing the T-shirt on the press and the
transfer on the shirt.
Placing the T-shirt on the press:
- It is critical you get the T-shirt placed squarely on the press' lower
platen.
- To do so, you lay the shirt so the T-shirt overhang on both sides is even
and the shoulders are placed square with the bottom of the collar just
hanging off the top.
- Make sure you also check the overhang at the bottom. Normally I find the
fabric overhang is not even and I have to pull on one shoulder to get it
even.
Placing the transfer on the shirt:
- For adult T-shirts, center the design and place the top of the transfer about
1 1/2 inches below the
collar. Lower it for XXL and larger sizes. Lower if the design
if very wide and not very tall.
- For child sizes, place the design lower so the child can see the picture
too
- For left chest designs, place the center of the design about 7 1/2 inches
below the point where the shoulder seam intersects with the collar.
The center of the design should be about 4 inches to the right of the center
line. A little lower and further from the center line for the bigger
sizes.
- For full back transfer, place the transfer centered below the collar with the
top of the transfer about 4 inches below the collar.
- Learn to trust your eye. If it doesn't look right, it probably
isn't.
